About the Writer

Wendy Wilson Hilty has been gardening since she was 11 years old.   She currently lives on Callawassie Island, South Carolina, in the middle of the Lowcountry.  Author of 13 history textbooks, she has taught European History, British History, and History of U.S. Immigration at the Secondary and University level.   A Master Gardener, she has also taken a wide range of courses in perennials and perennial design from experts in the  United States and the  United Kingdom.  When not gardening, she can be found golfing or singing in a 60's rock band, Artificially Hip Oldies Band.
